The prestigious and highly competitive Korea Global Scholarship (GKS) 2025 is now open for applications. Previously known as the Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP),this fully funded scholarship is available for Master’s and PhD programs. The Korean government funds this scholarship, selecting over 1,820 international students from 155 countries to pursue graduate studies (Master’s or PhD) or research in South Korea.

Duration of the GKS Scholarship:

  • PhD Program: 4 years
    • 1 year of Korean language program
    • 3 years of academic studies
  • Master’s Program: 3 years
    • 1 year of Korean language program
    • 2 years of academic studies
  • Research Program: 6 months or 1 year

Eligibility Criteria for Korea Global Scholarship (GKS) 2025:

  • All international students can apply.
  • Korean citizens are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants for graduate programs must be under 40 years old.
  • Master’s applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • PhD applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent.
  • Research program applicants must have an invitation from a partner university.
  • Previous GKS scholars are not eligible.
  • Applicants must be in good physical health.

How to Apply for the Korea Government Scholarship 2025:

There are two ways to apply for the Korea Global Scholarship (GKS) 2025:

  1. Through the Korean Embassy in your home country.
  2. Directly to a designated Korean university.
  • If applying through the Korean Embassy, applicants must submit original or certified documents to the embassy.
  • If applying directly to a university, all documents must be sent to the respective institution.
  • Embassy applicants can apply to three universities, while university applicants can apply to only one.
  • Embassy applicants who pass the second selection round should not consider it as the final selection.

  • Statement of Purpose (SOP)

  • Published books or research papers
  • Language proficiency certificate (if available)
  • Health assessment form

Application Deadline:

The deadline varies for each country’s Korean Embassy and designated universities. It is recommended to apply as early as possible and check the specific deadline for your country or university.
