500 Brazil Humantrain visa

Brazilian Government to Issue 500 Humanitarian Visas for Afghans This Month
Brazil Implements New Immigration System to Ensure “Refugees Never Live in Airports Again”

The federal government will announce the issuance of 500 humanitarian visas for Afghan migrants in the coming days. Upon arrival in Brazil, Afghans will receive a residence permit that, unlike regular visas, does not require periodic renewal.

These first 500 individuals are part of a group of 2,500 who had already been granted entry permits under a call published in September last year. This initiative is aimed at civil society organizations willing to assist in the resettlement of Afghans in Brazil. However, the government intends to extend these permits to nationals of other countries throughout this year.

According to government sources, this decision was made after a refugee camp was established at Guarulhos Airport. A government official stated, “Controlled admission is a solution to prevent refugees from settling in airports.”

The organization Panahgah will begin the process of transferring the first group of Afghans starting in March. This decision is expected to be published in the Official Gazette of the Union by Monday, February 24.
