The Polytechnic University of Turin is offering 14 scholarships for Afghan applicants interested in enrolling in a Master of Science program for the academic year 2025-2026. These scholarships are established in memory of Mrs. Josephine Teresa Pratt and her husband, Lng. Silvano Zorzi, to support Afghan students pursuing their master’s degrees at Politecnico in Turin, Italy.

Application Period for Non-Italian Qualifications (Living Outside Italy and the EU):

  • First Call: December 2024 – January 30, 2025; results will be announced on March 30, 2025.
  • Second Call: March 3, 2025 – April 3, 2025; results will be announced on June 6, 2025.

The 14 scholarships from Politecnico di Torino will provide the following advantages:

  • Stipend: €8,000 per year (net amount of approximately €7,373.27, depending on individual tax conditions).
  • Continuation: The scholarship for the second year is contingent upon meeting academic merit requirements.
  • Tuition Waiver: Exemption from tuition fees for the academic years 2025/26 and 2026/27 (only for candidates with refugee status recognized by the Italian government).
  • Bureaucratic Support: Assistance with the application for the Italian residence permit through the Politecnico Immigration Desk.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to apply for the Polytechnic University of Turin Scholarships for Afghan nationals:

  • Hold Afghan citizenship.
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent academic qualification from a foreign education system outside Italy, qualifying for a postgraduate program.
  • Students with an “equivalent academic qualification” include those enrolled in foreign universities in 5 or 6-year single-cycle degree programs (combined Bachelor and Master) who have not yet graduated but meet the minimum requirement of 15 years of schooling (including at least 3 years at the university level) and have obtained at least 180 ECTS credits or equivalent (pre-university or preparatory years are excluded).
  • Fulfill the admission requirements for a Master’s Degree program at Politecnico di Torino for the academic year 2025/26.
  • Have never been enrolled in a Degree Program at Politecnico or any other Italian University and have not commenced a related academic career.

Applicants can choose courses taught in Italian if they meet the language requirements or select English programs if they meet the English language criteria. Exemptions from providing an English language certificate apply to those with an international baccalaureate (IB), native speakers, or graduates from English-speaking countries, including:

  • Africa: Botswana, Cameroon, Gambia, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Togo, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia.
  • Asia: Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka.
  • Caribbean and Americas: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United States.
  • Europe: Cyprus, Malta, United Kingdom, Ireland.
  • Pacific: Australia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

To apply for the scholarships offered by the Polytechnic University of Turin, applicants must submit the following documents:

  • Passport: Other forms of ID are acceptable only for EU nationals.
  • Residence Permit: Required for non-EU citizens residing in Italy.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Level 6 EQF or an official university document indicating the expected graduation date if not yet graduated.
  • Official Transcript of Records.

  • Language Certificate: English or Italian, as outlined in the Requirements Per Course 25/26.
  • Statement of Validity or Comparability: From the Italian ENIC-NARIC center – CIMEA (if available; mandatory for enrollment).
  • Self-Certificate of Enrollment: For those currently enrolled in another Italian university, indicating passed exams.
  • Other Document: A maximum of one additional document can be submitted.

Submit your application through the Apply@polito online platform during the designated admission periods for Polito Master’s degree programs.

  • 1st Call: January 30, 2025
  • 2nd Call: April 3, 2025
  1. Register: Create an account on the Politecnico di Torino Application Portal by entering your personal information as it appears on your passport. The registration process takes about 20 minutes, and you can save your progress to complete later.
  2. Log In: Use the username and password sent to your email. If you don’t see the email, check your spam or junk folders.
  3. Complete the Application: Fill out all sections of the application form in order.
  4. Program Selection: Choose up to two Master of Science (MSc) programs, prioritizing your choices.
  5. Scholarship Application: In the “Research grants and scholarships” section, select the option for scholarships for Afghan students in Master of Science programs for the academic year 2025/26.
  6. Document Upload: Upload all required documents according to the specified formats.
  7. Submit Your Application: Click the “SAVE and SUBMIT” button to finalize your application.

The 14 scholarships will be granted to Afghan students who fulfill the admission criteria and apply on time. Preference will be given to Afghan students with refugee status in Italy, followed by others based on their GPA converted to the Italian grading system.

Provisional Ranking: Candidates will be ranked by their scores, with younger applicants receiving preference in the event of a tie. The provisional ranking will be published on the Politecnico di Torino Financial Aid webpage by June 20, 2025.

Acceptance: Scholarship recipients must confirm their acceptance via email by June 27, 2025. Failure to respond will result in forfeiting the scholarship, which will then be offered to the next eligible candidate.

Final Ranking: The final list of scholarship recipients will be published on July 4, 2025. Any unused scholarships will be reserved for future academic years until funds are exhausted.
